Did you know that India may soon receive its very first electric air taxi?
The ePlane Company, a startup based in Chennai, is all set to develop a certified prototype of a flying electric taxi to address urban congestion issues by March of next year.

And that's not all! The company is also focusing on commercializing its drones, which can carry payloads ranging from 2 to 6 kilograms soon.
The ePlane Company's founder and CEO, Satya Chakravarthy, has revealed that they are developing an eVTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) aircraft, which will initially be a three or four-seater plane that can be converted into an air ambulance. Exciting, right?

According to the startup's website, an ePlane will reduce travel time from 60 minutes by personal vehicle to just 14 minutes. Imagine skipping the traffic altogether, that too in a flying taxi! The company's goal is to relieve congestion in urban areas using eVTOLs, and we cannot wait to see it become a reality.

Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group, has also hinted at the possibility of India receiving its first electric air taxi by next year. In a post on X, Mahindra praised IIT Madras for incubating theePlane Company and helping to develop such exciting innovation.
