OPPO is on a mission to bring artificial intelligence to smartphones of all price ranges by the end of 2024.
They are teaming up with tech giants like Google, Microsoft, MediaTek, and Qualcomm to make this happen. OPPO recently opened an AI R&D Centre in Shenzhen and is focusing on developing AI capabilities in image processing, computer vision, speech technology, natural language processing, and machine learning.
According to IDC's latest report, the market for AI-enabled phones priced under $1000 is expected to grow by 250 per cent, with 35 million units projected to be shipped in 2024. Generative AI is set to revolutionize daily experiences in entertainment and mobile productivity.
OPPO's flagship series will boast Google’s Gemini family LLMs, bringing AI features like AI Toolbox with AI Writer and AI Recording Summary to the forefront. The AI Writer gives content suggestions, including sentence completions, word choices, and grammar corrections, while the AI Recording Summary automatically summarizes meetings, transcripts, and podcasts.

This year, OPPO introduced over 100 generative AI capabilities to its phones and filed more than 5,399 AI patents globally. Their investment in technology research and development spans areas such as SuperVOOC flash charging, imaging algorithms, and the Battery Health Engine that extends battery life.
To bolster its AI ecosystem, OPPO has forged partnerships with Google, Microsoft, and MediaTek emphasising the company’s dedication to making AI phones accessible to everyone. This signals a transformative stage in the mobile phone industry as they reshape the intelligent mobile experience.
