How Will Reliance Jio's 'True Unlimited Upgrade' Add-On Plans Address Customer Backlash and Tariff Hikes?
Reliance Jio has introduced three new 'True Unlimited Upgrade add-on plans in response to recent backlash over tariff hikes and the removal of popular, affordable prepaid plans. The new plans offer unlimited 5G data for users on the Jio True network.
These new add-on plans require an existing plan and provide unlimited 5G data for users with 5G-compatible devices connected to the Jio True 5G network. When the network switches to 4G, the data is limited based on the plan details.
Here are the specifics of the new plans:
- ₹151 Plan: 9GB high-speed 4G data and unlimited high-speed 5G data
- ₹101 Plan: 6GB high-speed 4G data and unlimited high-speed 5G data
- ₹51 Plan: 3GB high-speed 4G data and unlimited high-speed 5G data
It's important to note that only users with prepaid plans providing 2GB of data per day or more will be eligible for unlimited 5G data. Plans with 1.5GB data per day or less will have to adhere to their data limits.
The recent tariff hikes by Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have resulted in up to a 25% price increase on all prepaid, postpaid, and data plans.
Annual plans have experienced the most significant price increases. This has led to discontent among telecom users, with some expressing their dissatisfaction through trends such as 'BoycottJio' and 'BSNL ki ghar wapsi.'
