Everyone’s eyes are on Chandrayaan which make history on Wednesday with its third lunar mission set to land on Moon. If Chandrayaan-3 is successful, India will be the first country to land near the Moon’s little-explored south pole. According to scientists, one of its major goals is to hunt for water-based ice, which could support human habitation on the Moon in future.

India’s attempt comes just days after Russia’s Luna-25 crashed while trying to touch down in the same region.

If Chandrayaan 3 is successful, it will be only the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the Moon – the US, the former Soviet Union and China have all landed near the equator India’s attempt to land its Chandrayaan-2 mission near the south pole in 2019 was unsuccessful - it crashed into the lunar surface.

Chandrayan 3 spacecraft is all set to make history today and this is one of the biggest achievements for Inda by doing a soft landing on Moon’s south polar region. According to the India Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft is expected to land on the Moon’s surface at around 18:04 hours IST.

Chandrayaan 3 is the follow-up mission of 2019’s Chandrayaan-2 Mission which was partially successful as per the ISRO. In the previous Moon mission, the Vikram lander of the Chandrayaan-2 crashed while attempting a soft landing on the Moon’s surface. Therefore, scientists avoid the same mistakes but now, they are positive about the soft landing as they made certain changes in creating this moon mission.

Chandrayaan 3: Why India's Moon Mission is important?

Several countries and corporate companies are in a race to successfully land a spacecraft on the lunar surface. After Russia’s LUNA-25, a Japanese company’s spacecraft crashed while attempting to land on the moon.

India evolving with nuclear-armed as the world’s fifth-largest economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is eager to flaunt the country’s prowess in security and technology.

It is not just focusing on education or making history but also promoting scientific advancement. Students and teachers in Madrasas in Uttar Pradesh must be making significant strides in development under the guidance of the Chief Minister. The successful landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar surface is an indelible occasion. It is necessary to make all the students and teachers of Madrasas of the state familiar with this historical achievement of India.

What's The Moon Landing Process?

In line with instructions from the state government's education ministry, Uttar Pradesh has arranged for the live telecast of the Chandrayaan-3 moon landing process on August 23 at 5.27 pm through the ISRO website, YouTube channel, and DD National. Special sessions will be organised in schools and educational institutions from 5.15 to 6.15 pm for this purpose.

India's Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched on July 14 by the Indian Space Research Organisation from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota. The mission's objectives include a safe and soft landing, rover exploration on the Moon's surface, and in-situ scientific experiments. The approved cost for Chandrayaan-3 is ₹250 crore, excluding the launch vehicle cost.

If successful, India will become the fourth country in the world to achieve this feat, following the United States, Russia, and China. India will be the only country to land on the lunar south pole.

The journey to the Moon has generated a lot of excitement in India, with wishes for the mission’s success pouring in from across the country.

India is not the only country with an eye on the Moon - there's a growing global interest in it, with many other missions headed to the lunar surface shortly.
