Amazon has similar partnerships with Instagram owner Meta and Pinterest, but this new alliance is expected to help Snap recover its advertising business.
The in-app shopping feature will be available for selected products that are advertised on the social media app and sold on Amazon. Users will also be able to see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details of select Amazon products. The partnership is aimed at competing in impulse-driven and serendipitous shopping that happens on social media.
Earlier this year, Snap and Amazon collaborated to allow users on the social media app to try on eyeglasses using augmented reality (AR) which could then be bought on Amazon. The partnership between Amazon and Snapchat is expected to offer innovative and fun new try-on experiences for hundreds of millions of Snapchatters.
