The #FindTheBalance Campaign Inspires The Performers To Rekindle Work-Life Harmony
The #FindTheBalance campaign is a reminder for all dynamic professionals, entrepreneurs, and artists to hit pause and bring more balance into their lives.
The war of the global pandemic had been somewhat over in the world but, its mark is remaining on humans and that is the crux people have been competing to be the most efficient multi-tasker at work.
On LinkedIn, a million members in India come together to share their paramedic stories, of searching for a new job, working remotely, watching careers, or discovering a new passion and interest with an open heart. Ashutosh Tiwari, an Indian LinkedIn manager initiated this campaign. There has been a significant upheaval during this period for professionals, business owners, and HR teams, they are striving to help the professional workforce navigate this period of change. While we race to leave not one unread email in our inbox and power through late nights and early mornings at work, we have lost our most precious time to an infinite loop of meetings, calls and Excels spreadsheets.
A fear of missing out on the rat race always triggers in us and the idea of proving oneself in a work has been real. Whether you call it fear or insecurity, that is the only thing that segregates us from our loved ones, a hobby we might enjoy.
LinkedIn's Future of Work study which was released this year, had some eye-opening insights on the subject. The survey said that half of India's workforce(52%) believes that work-life balance is just as important as their salary today, and 1 and 3 professionals in India report being burnt out today.
First, working from home is trouble and then gradually it has become a choice. The ritual of working work from home gives them a chance to balance work and personal life s Working remotely from home blurred the boundaries between work and life. It's not surprising to see that professionals in India are now grappling with burnout at this time, as we are finding it difficult to keep up with the demands of our personal life.
It’s a moment for us to stop and reassess.
Today, we launched the #FindTheBalance campaign to encourage our members to do just this — the 60-second film is a reminder to hit pause, take some time off, reconnect with your loved ones, and find the balance in your life, whatever that may look like for you. We want to encourage our members to find a new idea of balance and redefine what the future of work will look like for them.
The brand film highlights how the two protagonists are stuck in a never-ending loop of monopoly with work and life, and how they finding it hard to keep pace with the constantly evolving world of work, The film ends with heartwarming moments shared between the protagonists and their loved ones, and are a reminder of how we can redefine the balance in our lives.
It shows how a small change can make a world of difference to bring the much-deserved and much-needed balance in our lives. It is not about work, life, people, or the environment but a race chase for likes, followers, trophies, money, or materialistic kinds of stuff.
At LinkedIn, the campaign is referring to this as 'The Great Reshuffle', where organisations are rethinking their work models, and professionals are rethinking their motivations and ambitions at work. Here’s what they had to say:
ProtimaTiwari on the importance of setting boundaries
For the Goa-based entrepreneur, digital marketer and fitness enthusiast, setting boundaries between her personal and professional life has helped her grow into a more productive and overall happier professional. "There was a time during the pandemic when I realised I had not been taking care of myself, I was stressed and overworked, and I realised I needed to make some changes," she says. So, Protima determined to prioritise things first in her life other than work. "I made it a rule to put my phone on aeroplane mode after 7 pm. This gave me the space to take out my time for myself." Instead of working late into the night, started reading, cooking, listening to music or catching up with friends. "At the end of the day just doing nothing allowed me to understand how to be comfortable and enjoy my own company with myself. All you have to declutter your life and recreate your life just for yourself.
Akanksha Arora on the importance of “me” time
CEO and Creative Director of Tribe Amrapali, Akankasha Arora, is a full-time businesswoman, as well as a mom to two young children. So during the pandemic, when the entire family was at home for months she found herself unable to find time for herself. "My kids became so used to being around me and my husband all the time that it was difficult to set boundaries — how can you explain to a two-year-old that you are on a Zoom call?", she says.
So she made it a point to set a routine in place where she could allocate enough time to her work, family and herself too. Then what she did do?
She has started meditating every morning. It gives me some time to myself," she says. She and her husband also divide responsibilities between each other so that at all times one of them is taking care of business, and the other is looking after their home. Establishing a healthy routine is key to finding work-life balance, she believes.
Roshan Joshi on the importance of "scheduling time off"
YouTuber and Comedian Rohan Joshi is not just a really funny guy, he's also quite the expert at managing his schedule to ensure he gets enough rest. "Today, I have changed my metric of what success means to me. I don't aim to be the best at anything. I just want to be mildly successful, and I don't want to kill myself over me, "he says. He takes power naps between shots on set, carries a book to read on shoots, works out at least three times a week and ensures that he schedules just one shoot week a month to give him time to recover and spend time with friends and family the rest of the month. "This trend of glorifying working 24/7 is dangerous, "he says. "My goal is to be healthy, happy and have successful relationships with my family and friends.
Chef Neha Deepak Shah on "taking a step back"
"I truly, madly, deeply love my job, but being in the hospitality sector means merging weekdays and weekends into one, "says Neha, an engineer turned restaurateur turned content creator, who spoke to us about her journey realising the importance of work-life balance. Being at the helm of two restaurants plus a few reality shows later, Neha came down with pneumonic fever. "It takes one breaking point to realise that you need to take a step back, "she says. The chef credits the pandemic for her lifestyle change. "The downtime helped me reinstate a work-life balance that had long been out of sync, giving me the chance to rekindle my love for creating content as well as teach cooking, "she says. She now makes it a point to take one day off a week to cook for herself, work out or listen to music. "
At the end of the day, no one else is going to find a work-life balance for you. And believe me, the successful people are those who set boundaries," says Neha
