What's Proven Strategy That Should Learn From McDonald's?

It’s a long run to get a coffee.

The two brothers of McDonald's - Dick and Mac McDonalds - eliminate all things that every other that drive in restaurants at that time. It was a move that nobody had ever imagined. Every running restaurant in the USA was just a hangout place for the youth. They spend their free time and were smoking, drinking liquor, and leaving the trash at their place. These two brothers smartly eliminate the thing which makes restaurants filthy. They stamp out the cigarette vending machine, put a tag 'no smoking and drinking sign, and many other things they did that will drive the youth away. Gradually, they transformed their restaurants into family friends' restaurants. By the time, removed the waitress or other workers who deliver the food and drink to the customer in their car.

Brothers of McDonald's go all in to take courageous actions, they fearlessly cut everything down that they thought was dragging down their business. During this time, they noticed that their current market, the youth could bring so much pain that cost them dollars. Before closing the door of restaurants, they did a lot of cleaning regularly.

Every businessman is willing to face the worse to worst challenges that come along their way, especially in a startup. So, some tough challenges they had to face too. There were a bunch of sluggish and disrespectful customers who did not want to take their orders from the counter. So, they need a waiter and a waitress. By eliminating all of those actions, the brothers eliminated a lot of operational costs to create new value for their business. The value they added soon become the key to Mcdonald's.

Are you still afraid to eliminate something that is dragging down your business, just because it is famous right now?

Two great brothers have also created the "Speedee' system. This is the utmost solution for not embarrassing customers. Waiting in a long queue, getting late for work, or anything. Time is an asset, if you save it for people you win. This is exactly what they did. The brothers were on the side do the court, noticing every move done by their employee. It is like they arrange the whole activity. They changed the arrangements of their restaurant until they found the best one. They also made a couple of cooking tools to meet the system's needs. They meticulously focused on the things that made their place different from the ordinary.

What I learned from this, data is powerful. they created the Speedee system not just by staring at the date. They add ideas to represent the world. Data will be useful only if you can extract the insights, which can only be extracted if you know your goal.

Set goals clearly before swimming into the data pool. The brothers show me that it is not the size of the data that matters, but how it can help achieve your potential goals is the core part of the process. By staying focused on their goal to elevate the place and speed up the serving process, they saw just the right data and tackle them. Moreover, they created a lot of automation processes to help them achieve it.

The more they created the system for making a better place, the more they were proud and sheer confidence in their system. That invited a lot of people to see how fast their services are. Founders such as Bunger King, Glen Bell, and Taco Bell were some of the people who visited the kitchen and came under the spell of their system.

What I learned from this case: Yes, Ray’s ability to think big is one of his key successes. But the most interesting thing, in this case, is the way he ‘snatched’ Mcdonald's from the brothers. When he doesn’t have any control over the business, he created his col. And that control is the key resource of the business. By owning the key resource, he was able to use it to turn the table. Now ask yourself these questions:

  1. What is the key resource in your business?

  2. Do you already have control of it?

If you think you do, take a moment, and answer these questions honestly:

  1. What makes you think that ‘that thing’ is the key resource?

  2. Are you sure you’re the only one who controls it?

Since that time, Mcdonalds' has operated more than 40,000 restaurants worldwide.

Remember: One crazy idea can influence the world if you know how to execute it.
