It's an amazing movie that blended folk horror with power-packed action, and boy did it work well! Unfortunately, it was just a little ahead of its time and didn't get the attention it deserved.

On the other hand, Stree mixed folk horror with humour and guess what? It was an instant success! This combination delivered a hit and could be just the start of something bigger.

As the footfalls in theatres have largely dropped, people prefer "experiential" films that make a trip to the theatre worth their time. Horror is one of the quickest ways to thrill an audience and deliver a visually stunning experience.

Recently, I pivoted to "horror fiction" on Instagram, and my content has been blowing up! In just the last 3-4 months, my videos have received over 25 million views! I've noticed that the most viral horror reels on Instagram are ripe with elements of folk horror.

There's a huge audience waiting for a good folk-horror film, but to be messy, it has to blend in with other elements like action, humour, mythology, and murder mystery. With such a vast landscape available and so many myths seeping into our culture, this genre would not only bring in freshness and originality but also elevate the level of storytelling in Hindi cinema, which is in dire need of it.
