YouTube's new 'Pause' feature lets you prevent new comments on videos

YouTube, the video-sharing platform owned by Google, has introduced a new feature called Pause for comment moderation. This feature allows creators and moderators to stop the creation of new comments on videos while preserving the existing ones. It's an optional setting, offering more control over discussions.

Where can you find it?

You'll spot the Pause option in the comment settings for a specific video. It's located in the upper right-hand corner of the comments panel, accessible both on the app's watch page and YouTube Studio.

When activated, viewers will see a notice beneath the video indicating that new comments have been paused, while the existing comments remain visible.

YouTube has been testing this feature since October and has received positive feedback from creators and moderators. They appreciate the flexibility it offers in managing comments more effectively.

Before this, creators had limited options to control comments—either reviewing them before publishing or completely disabling comments on their channels.

Separately, YouTube is enticing users to subscribe to its Premium service by introducing Playable, a collection of over 30 mini-games available for instant play without any downloads. These mini-games are accessible across Android, iOS, and desktop platforms, aiming to improve the user experience.
